Local Rules

1          OUT OF BOUNDS                                               See Rules of Golf – Rule 18 & Definitions

“Out of Bounds” is defined as all ground beyond the boundary edge of the Golf Course. This includes boundary objects, i.e. wooden and metal fences, gates, hedges and white posts. White posts must not be moved.

The only Relief available at this Golf Club is Stroke-and-Distance Relief – One Stroke Penalty

Rule 18.1 At any time a player may take “Stroke-and-Distance Relief” by adding one penalty stroke and playing the original ball or another ball from where the previous “stroke” was made.  

2          PENALTY AREAS                                                See Rules of Golf – Rule 17 & Definitions

a) The pool in front of the 7th tee (adjacent to 6/15th fairway), marked by a line on the grass. Is a “Red Penalty Area”

Or Lateral Relief – One stroke Penalty

b) The ditch on the 3rd/12th fairway, marked by red posts is a “Red Penalty Area”

c) The ground behind the 11th Green marked with red posts is a “Red Penalty Area” If a player’s ball has been played and has finished beyond the line between the red posts and the ball is found it can be played as it lies or dropped in the Drop Zone to the right of the 11th Green. If the ball is lost another ball can be dropped in the Drop Zone.

3         ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS                     See Rules of Golf – Rule 16 & Definitions     

 a) Immovable Obstructions

1) Cable markers, drain covers, tee mat frames, wooden railway sleepers forming tee boxes, tree roots which are on the surface of fairways, pylons on the 2nd/11th and 3rd/12th holes, seats, pipe work, sprinkler heads and valve covers, the bell post and all staked trees or young trees marked with white paint are deemed to be immovable obstructions.

Nearest Point of Relief but no closer to the hole – No Penalty Stroke

2) Paths and protective screens are an integral part of the course.

 b) Power Lines

If a player’s ball is “known or virtually certain” to have hit an overhead power line only,    during play on the 1st/10th, 2nd/11th, 3rd/12th Holes.        

The Stroke does not count, and the shot must be replayed – No Penalty Stroke

c) Preferred Lies (Winter Rules)                                         See Rules of Golf – Rule 14 & Definitions

A ball lying on any ground cut to fairway height or less may take free relief and be lifted without   penalty, cleaned and replaced within six inches of where it originally lay and not nearer to the hole. The ball must be marked prior to it being lifted. When the committee decide that “preferred lies” is in the “ General Area” of the course which is all of the course excluding balls being played from the “Tee Area”, “Penalty Areas”, “Bunkers” &” Greens”.

4            DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES                      See Rules of Golf – Rule 4

For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only

5          VEHICLE TYRE MARKS

If a ball rests in vehicle tyre marks, on the fairway, the ball may be lifted, cleaned and placed, no nearer the hole.

6         DAMAGE TO GREENS

Relief from damage made to the surface of any Green by an animal may be taken if the damage is in the line of a putt..

7      GROUND UNDER REPAIR                                              See Golf Rules – Definitions

Where there are large bare areas on the course on the following holes are to be treated as Ground under Repair. A free drop may be taken at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.

Hole 5/14 Path left hand side of Green, A drop zone has been created for the path and mole hills at rear and adjacent to the green

Hole 6/15 Tractor tyre marks left hand side of the fairway adjacent to Substation fence

Hole 6/15 Fairway left hand side adjacent to pool

All bunkers when the sand is frozen solid or completely full of water the ball must be dropped out of the bunker and behind the bunker that is being played – No Penalty Stroke
